Dongtshang Zhabdrung Rinpoche was born in 1983 to Thupten Lodoe and Sonam Wangmo. He was recognized as the embodiment of Dongtshang Zhabdrung by HH Sakya Trichen rinpoche at the age of seven. After that he stayed for seven years at Ngor Ewam monastery in India learning the liturgical practices associated with the monastery.
He later joined Dzongsar Shedra and studied here for nine years and taught one year. He was awarded the title of Khenpo by Khyentse Rinpoche and HH Dalai Lama. He taught HH Karmapa for nearly two years, thus becoming the youngest tutor to Karmapa in history.
Currently he teaches and spreads Buddha dharma and received many teachings from Sakya Trichen, Penor Rinpoche, Luding Khenchen and Khentse Rinpoche. He also stayed in numerous retreats.
