Free medical camp for the local community sponsored by Khyentse Foundation in collaboration with Dzongsar Khyentse Chokyi Lodro Institute.

Since 2012, Khyentse Foundation in collaboration with Dzongsar Khyentse Chokyi Lodro Institute has been organizing a free annual medical camp and cleaning campaign for the welfare of the local community. This year’s five-day-long medical camp was carried out at Chauntra Panchayat Office from 26th to 30th December 2018.

Dr Abhishek Sharma of Chauntra and Sister Ngawang Palmo of Bir Tibetan Clinic were requested to lead the five-day-long medical camp. Health check-ups, health-related consultations, as well as free medicines and vitamins were provided during the camp. A free transportation service was also arranged for senior citizens and those who had difficulty reaching the camp due to sickness.

A total of 608 people from the local vicinity attended the camp. Among the conditions treated were diabetes, stomach and skin problems, headache, eye pain, back pain, cold and cough.

Free medical service

The camp was featured on HP 24×7 and ENTV news channels. An old gentleman, who took advantage of the service last year, said he was attending this year’s free medical camp as his health had improved after taking the medicines prescribed last year.
