Jampel Dorji

 

Jampel Dorji was born in Bhutan to Chozom and Rigzin Gyatso, elder son of Choying Rinpoche. At the young age of eight, he entered monastic life at Namkhai Nyingpo’s monastery in Bumthang Bhutan.

 

In 1985, he joined Dzongsar Shedra and studied with late Khen Rinpoche Kunga Wangchuk for more than a decade, culminating in receiving the title of ‘Khenpo’ from Kyabje Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and Khenchen Kunga Wangchuk. He taught at the Shedra for few years.

 

After Namkhai Nyingpo RInpoche founded Shedra at his monastery, he taught there for more than six years. In 2004, he was requested to take care of the Guru Lhakhang at Bodgarnang, Tibetan settlement at Thimphu, and has been continuously renovating the monastery. He also oversees the daily liturgical and ritual practice of the monastery. He leads monthly accumulation of mantras, resounding sutras etc.
