The ninth abbot

 

The ninth abbot, Dayab Khenrab Segye

 

Dayab Khenrab Segye is the ninth abbot of Khamje Shedra and is from Dayab region and belongs to monastery of Tsangsar. From a very young age he renounced the conventional life and is dedicated to Dharma. He taught in Chamdo region for few years while serving Lama Lodoe. He studied at Dzongsar Shedra for five years under Dosib Thupten and served as a review teacher for few years.

After that, he went to study Vajrayana with Ajam Rinpoche and Khen Chophel in Lithang Dezhung area. From Chokyi Lodoe, he received both traditions of Lamdre, Treasury of pith instructions, Compendium of Saddhana, etc. In 1956, he was made the abbot of Khamje Shedra; though he is greatly learned both in Sutra and Tantra, due to the political situation, was able to teach for two years only. He passed away in 1981, after being released from prison.
