The fourth abbot, Dezhung Chophel

 

Dezhung Chophel, the fourth abbot of Dzongsar Khamje Shedra, was born in Lithang Dezhung. He is disciple of Ngawang Lekpa, Jamyang Chokyi Lodoe, Zhenga Rinpoche and Onton Khenrab and is known for his scholarly achievements.

He greaty served the Sakyapa tradition and an image of Guru Rinpoche appeared on his skull at his death.

He served as the abbot of Dzongsar Shedra for five years after Jamyang Gyeltshen Rinpoche at the command of Chokyi Lodoe.

He spent his life practicing the highest meditations related with the highest class of Vajrayana and teaching his disciples.
